Driving from Kolhapur to New Panvel
Roads in Maharashtra are seeing such a great development that I was surprised how smooth my ride from Kolhapur to Mumbai was on this Sunday (18th July 2021). So I thought why not share the experience for someone who’s on the lookout of where abouts and stop that I took to reach here.
The Start
I started from Kolhapur at 7:14 am from my place in Tarabai Park. My mom and our in parents from in laws were joining us as well. So we went to pick them up and our actual journey started around 7:27am.聽
Our situation:
Because I had my mom and our in laws with me, I had to be in a good boy mode where my driving mode was set to “comfort plus” 馃槢 No aggressive pick up and overtaking. Also I had to consider the best possible places for them to take rest, get some snack and tea and use restrooms.聽
I researched a bit, called my friends who travelled to Pune and Mumbai often to get an idea of their favorite stops enroute.聽
Two famous ones I repeatedly got was Manas restaurant and Aaram regency
Manas is more of dining restaurant best for lunch and dinner. While aaram is a quick perfect stop for snacks and tea.
So I ended up finalizing Aram Regency.
The Stop
We reached there around 9:36 am. So its a perfect two hour drive from Kolhapur. We walked a bit. Had some Vada Pav, Idli Vada Sambar, Bhaji, and they have one of best teas I’ve ever had. We took two turns for the tea.
After using the restroom, we started around 10:24 (yeah it was like an hour.. I went so fast!) I had my fuel tank filled up full tank two days ago so I didnt had to stop for that. Oh yeah which bring me to the point, 聽I did not see Gas Station/ Petrol pump within Aram Regency area.
The Destination
We reached to my brother’s place in New Panvel sharp at 1:10pm.
Verdict/Conclusion
~ Car used – i20 (2013 model magna optional diesel) | Max speed 130 kmph | Average – 80kmph |
~ Drive Time: 7:30am to 1:10am = 5 hours 40mins. (This includes a stop of one hour (9:36am to 10:24am) ~ 48mins)
Also, are you wondering how I know about my precise timing? I use google timelines since it launched to keep my location details and timings with me. If you are interested to learn more about that, I’ll create a new post on that.
~ Actual road time = 5:40Hrs – 48mins = 4 Hours 52 mins ~ 5 hours.
Wow! So basically, drive distance from Kolhapur to New Panvel is literally 5 hours.
~ Road condition = Great聽
~ Number of tolls = 4? – All fast tags
~ Rains met = minimum
So there you have one good experience and feedback of driving from Kolhapur to New Panvel. For Mumbai, you can approximately add one hour as you will meet traffic on the way ahead.聽
Overall, be prepared for 6 hours drive in your car and wish you the safe and fun driving. Also feel free to share your updates if you happen to travel. I will be happy knowing fellow riders and their journey.聽
